5 Dynamic Sitting Poses for Photoshoots
Dropping the formality and kicking back can work brilliantly for a natural looking photo.
If you’re headed to one of our London Photoshoots we will want to throw in a few experimental snaps like the below to diversify your look and give range to your personality.
Sitting down is a great way to do this and here we have some strong ideas on how to get you started.
How to pose sitting down
Most subjects have the same problem when trying to adjust for a sitting or standing photo - where to put the hands??
Simply being conscious of them makes them feel awkward but there is always a way to anchor them or let them hang. Let’s look at some examples.

The Sailboat
We just love making full use of the environment. What better way to add contrast than to kick the feet right up.
2. The High Diamond
If you’re sitting on the floor then your options don’t fade, they just get more varied.
Lift up a knee and make sure nothing is falling out of shot. You’ll nail it if there is a leading line directing the eyes to the subject.
3. Head Hanging
This works far less when you’re standing, if you’re sitting down the rules get torn apart.
The head is now following the tone of the body and you get a fully chilled vibe from head to toe.
4. Checking In
The watch check lends formality and composure to what might otherwise be a passive exterior.
5. The Squeeze
Prepare the tummy for a bit of a squeeze and you’ll deliver a far reaching shot from no further than where you are sitting.
Make sure the light is coming from the front to give weight to what the subject might be looking at.
Chair sitting poses
You are always going to be looking for the widest range of photos in your photoshoot and having a few of these in the photo album will help to diversify.
Check out our range of London Photoshoots as we offer full guidance and direction to make sure you nail it everytime.
