Flava Dating Review

Flava Dating App Review

The best dating app photographer in London says his clients are not impressed with Flava. Here’s why.

Since Apple's app store in the UK insists on jamming this dating app in your face every time you search within their dating category, it’s pertinent for us to look into it. Here are the initial concerns.

Is the Flava app real?

Yes, there’s a real Russian company behind it and yes there is an actual live dating app here with real people.

But it’s geared towards casual encounters and hook-ups so you’re going to find the usual frustrating money traps - pictures of half dressed models all ready to talk with you ‘‘right now’’, you just need to upgrade to a higher tier.

For clarification, we cannot say that there are no good experiences to be had here, but it seems the majority have had a disappointing experience.

This can be gleaned from the innumerable negative reviews and consistent criticisms the app has accrued.

Flava Hook-up Dating & Chat Review

Flava emphasises privacy by offering anonymous registration via Apple ID, and disallowing screenshots or recording of chats and photos. They also have an incognito mode where you can hide your profile from general browsing.

With anonymity comes mischief. There are safety issues with meeting up with someone who has been able to hide themselves so well online.

Is the Flava Dating app free?

The subscription model is simple;

  • Free Features: The app offers basic matching and chat functionalities for free.

  • Flava Premium: A paid subscription unlocks features like seeing who likes you, filtering by active users, unlimited likes, making photos private, and incognito mode.

What's wrong with Flava?

Ah well, let’s take a look at the list. Bare in mind these are only some of the issues floating around the web regarding this dating app. There are more out reviews out there, some of them positive. Judge for yourself.

Fake accounts

Many users report a high number of fake profiles on the app, with people using stolen photos or misrepresenting themselves. This can make it difficult to find genuine matches.

Predatory subscription model

The app limits what should be essential features for free users, requiring a premium subscription to see who likes you or unlock certain chat functions. This can be frustrating for users who just want to try out the app before committing to a paid subscription.

Also it seems if you pay up you are likely to only find matches way outside of your geographic region and preferences due to the low volumes of users on the platform.

When your subscription expires, new messages and likes will fill your inbox prompting you to pay up to see more.

A focus on looks

The app is marketed towards casual dating and hook-ups, and some users report that it prioritises looks over compatibility

Difficulty unsubscribing

There have been complaints about difficulty unsubscribing from the premium service. And although these concerns are acknowledged by their customer service, auto renews for monthly fees that you thought were cancelled are still happening for a small number of users.

Services sold

Many people are there to sell you their ‘services’ and we’re not talking about food delivery.

Instagram bait

One motive for people on Flava is to grow their Instagram profile. This will then lead to offering you some kind of service.

Random blocked accounts

Many users have reported being blocked for no reason at all and generic responses are given when enquiring with customer support.

Conclusion: There are better flavours out there

Again it's important to note that these are just some of the concerns that have been raised about Flava. It's always a good idea to read reviews and do your research before using any dating app.

Fake profiles and a focus on plugging premium features always tends to lead to a bad experience. Why even bother when there are plenty of safer and more active apps already doing it better like Bumble or Hinge.

Either way, be safe out there.
