5 Perfect Poses for Female Photos

There are in fact about a zillion ways to make a woman look good in a photo, most of those are provided by your portrait photographer when you take stage at one of our London photoshoots, but it can’t hurt to get a heads up on the poses that always seem to bring the house down.

Smiling is often a powerful way to ace that perfect snap but there are also some memorable guiding tips when looking for new ways to pose in front of a camera.

Things to remember

  • Keep a lifted strong jawline, avoiding the double chin look

  • Avoid standing dead straight to the camera, since this widens the body

  • Find angles that promote curves, accentuating the female form

Keep those in mind when heading to your photoshoot.

How should girls pose for photos

Let's take a quick look at some of the classic female poses that often get used by models and pros, stealing them seems sneaky but don’t worry, they won’t mind. Feel free to also check out our posing section for extra ideas.

1. Peering back over the shoulder

Over the shoulder

The peering over the shoulder pose always comes out perfectly formed. It’s also great for when the light is directly behind the subject as it hides the darker shadows.

2. Hands in pocket

Hands in pockets

Simple, not fancy, casual and cool. This throws away the formality of a photoshoot (which you are trying to do) and relaxes a subject.

3. Touching face

This will always be a classic as its suggestive nature will always draw a viewer's eyes in. Introspection is an asset that not enough of us use in our photos.

4. Hand on hip

When this is done correctly it can bring the luxurious and decadent feel of the red carpet to any indoor or outdoor environment.

5. Head on hand peering upwards

Dreamy is a great word to describe this one. And I can say from experience that women/girls seem to own this one over men.

How can I look more photogenic?

These poses are all great for beginners as they are so easy to pull off. When you’re on a Klick Me photoshoot your photographer will take you through many of these amazing captures and show you how to personalise them and make them your own.

Of course superb lighting, environment, clothing and a host of other factors will add weight to a photo. But even making a smile look natural can be tricky when you’re under the eyes of a camera.

When you’re at your shoot the good news is that all the burdens of making you look good fall into the hands of your photographer. Pick the right one and you’ll be golden.
