London Dating Photographers - What do we do?

If you have ever asked yourself this question then you’re in good company. Exactly what does a dating photographer look for that differentiates them from other professional photographers?

If their area of expertise revolves around finding you more right swipes on Tinder or Bumble, what oddball tactics do they activate to achieve this?

And where do they take you in London to drag out that glowing version of your curious face? Let's take a look.

Best places for a photoshoot in London?

First things first, us dating photographers need to find locations that aren’t going to steal any limelight, instead we want to showcase the subject.

A Klick Me photoshoot will typically use backdrops that offset the colours you are wearing and also throw attention to what is making you pop.

So there is no point standing you up in front of a Banksey or asking you to smile near a statue, we want to create a textured three dimentional image of what its like to stand in front of you.

Foreground and background elements can help to achieve this but they will hopefully be blurry and out of focus. You are the subject and therefore the primary focus.

Your dating photographer needs to find all the ways to lead the viewer's eyes to you and your style.

What to wear in your online dating profile pictures

It might seem counterintuitive but we really don’t want too much attention drawn to your clothes either.

That slick Armani suit might make you the bell of the commissioners ball but in your photoshoot we want to focus on much more important things… like your eyes or your smile or your present sentiment.

In a shoot you’ll usually be fine wearing plain clothes or a subtle colour or tshirt/shirt that doesn’t scream too loud.

Here is an example of how we’ve tried to align focus in our new instagram account:

Best profile picture poses

Even thinking of posing in a picture can seem daunting, like someone has pointed a hot white light on you and you’ve been caught off guard.

Most of the time when I ask a client to smile or look over to a certain area the real click of my camera doesn’t happen until they think the shot is taken and they relax.

Some poses that I enjoy seeing are when they hold their collar like they are expecting a chill or the earnest glance sideways as they brush back some hair.

I also like to throw in a wild card or two and ask them to do something they would never want to see in a picture like an evil giggle or purr like a cat… not to take a picture, but for the quick relief snap I get after they have finished doing it.

Are dating photoshoots expensive?

Since these are taking place outside and you are not typically using up a studios time you can get a photoshoot in London for as little as £59

It’s an exciting way to get a photographer's perspective on what will bring out your best features and get you the results you want to get from a dating profile.

So dating photographers are not too dissimilar from a wedding or food Photographer - but our study goes into loosening you up, getting you to laugh, getting you to look natural and most of all making you look tasty enough for a date.
